Banhez is owned and operated by the families of the U.P.A.D.E.C cooperative in Ejutla, Oaxaca. Members grow, harvest, distill, and bottle every expression, turning a long history of seasonal precarity into shared, generational ownership.

Produced by the UPADEC cooperative in Ejutla, Oaxaca, Banhez brings together farming families and Maestro Mezcaleros who share one mission: to preserve the traditions of artisanal mezcal while creating a sustainable future for the generations to come. Rooted in fair trade and collective ownership, Banhez proves that exceptional mezcal is born through collaboration.

Crafted using traditional methods, including earthen pit ovens, horse-drawn tahonas, natural fermentation, and small-batch distillation, Banhez expresses the richness of Oaxaca's agave heritage with authenticity and balance. Beyond its iconic Ensamble, the cooperative also produces an exceptional portfolio of single-expression and wild agave mezcals, each showcasing the unique character of a specific agave variety, terroir, and Maestro Mezcalero. This remarkable diversity makes Banhez one of the most complete and respected artisanal mezcal collections available today.
